Dad's birthday
 

So my dad turned the big 60 last monday and us kids (4 of us) wanted to get him something special. Dad has always said that he wanted a better seat for his 125 for about 10 years that I can remember, so that's what we did.

He wanted an exact replacement so that's what we got him-bolted right on. This is the old one, and it's always been kept inside.

I asked him what ever happened to the white fiberglass one- he told me that 35 or so years ago when he bought the 125 it was a heap of sorts because someone rolled it in a ditch- the steering wheel is still bent- so he had to replace parts on it, most notably the dash with the 105 decals.

Dad has worked at an IH dealership for about the same amount of time and he told me that people used to bring in their cub cadets for service.
"Does it need new belts?"
"Yup"
"Go ahead and replace them. How about mower blades? If they look worn replace them too."

Dad says "I mowed for free for 25 years. Someone would bring something in and say they wanted new belts/blades etc and if they weren't shot I'd bring them home and use them till they were junk." Ergo why he has a seat from a Q/L on it.

I mowed with it on saturday and the new seat doesn't pinch the gentleman's area like the old one did. I had forgotten how worn out the steering is on it as well, like it takes a 10' circle to turn.

Edit: btw I'm impressed and very nice gift from you, your dad got the FULL life out of that seat, man that thing was roached!

I had found it originally from this forum, a member named Saturn V- he put one on his 147 and he got it from a dealer in florida named Choo-Choo parts. I got it from the same place. He has a good deal on them, they are for sale for $15-20 less than MTD, and they ship quickly.


Dad used the seat, then I came along and started mowing for him. I wore enough of my rear end groove into the seat, then my little brother did the same thing. We thought it was high time that we got him a new one. It's a very well loved 125.

Ok now I feel really dumb, I mean DUMB. Choo choo parts is in Plant City, FL which is where? Only about 30 minutes from where I live in the next county, Hillsborough, and you northern guys are getting parts from there, Ugh. And i know where it is located for years! I will now be searching for stuff there, thanks man, possibility of no shipping makes me happy.:beerchug:
