Manual PTO
Does anyone know what size of hex key fits the 1/4-20 set screws and lock screws that hold the PTO on the bearing? Looking at buying a t handled hex key set and want to make sure I get the right one! Got a 129 and a 149 to work on. Not really looking forward to it!
Thanks in advance! |
1/8"
Buy the best quality allen wrench you can find. Make sure the hex is clean so you can get full engagement of the allen wrench. I use regular allen (hex) wrench and a small piece of tubing/pipe or a small adjustable wrench for leverage. Properly assembled, there should be two set screws in each hole. |
I don't know if they are the best quality, but I use allen wrenches from Rural King.
I get the ones out of the flat drawers, where they have all the odd stuff. They are around 49 cents each (cheap enough that you can afford to ruin them and not worry about it) and they are quite a bit longer than the average allen wrench. I usually buy several of them at a time. When they start to round off, you can grind the bad part off, a little at a time (to keep them from getting too hot). Like Jeff says, Make sure the hex in the set screws are as clean as you can get them and tap the wrench in as far as you can get it to go. |
