Dash tower question

3 Attachment(s)
I have a 124 I'm restoring and my dash tower is in pretty bad shape. So I bought one on eBay and it was supposed to come off of a 124, but after receiving it, it looks like a 126 tower. It's about a inch and a half taller and a half of an inch larger hole for the steering column. My question is will I have to get a different steering column for this to work or is the 126 basically the same tractor than the 124. Im going to have to trim the top of the tower so the fiberglass top will fit. But I'm not sure if I should start cutting on this thing to get it back down a inch and a half and take the top off of the 124 and tack it onto the 126 tower. I need some help man. Thanks

I would resell that on ebay or eat it before I started hacking up my fiberglass dash. The trouble getting things cut apart and welded back to align properly can't be worth it.

Bid on another with multiple pics (and ask the seller for measurements) so you can confirm next time.

I'm with SaturnV..... they are way too different to try and make it work.

I'm not cutting the fiberglass just the 126 tower down 1 and a half inches and welding the 124 top plate on to compensate the larger steering hole that the 126 has. I think it will work because you can't find 124 dash towers at a decent price unlike the sponsors above that sell their parts for 3 times more than what it's worth

Dude I'm not trying to Ripp the sponsors I just asked a question but just got a smart reply and that's fine. Anyway if you click on the sponsers logo above Patton racers and ih cub cadet parts don't even work so so much for that. And I'm sorry I asked the question in the first place. Obviously not everybody has the money like j-mech to go out and spend 100 dollars here and there. And yes I will fabricate the tower and personally send it to you when it's done just to prove to you that I did do it and that just thinking about a idea wasn't stupid after all and I still have my 100 dollars in my pocket. And I can't wait to see this 82 series hood that fits a 124. Good luck with that. Have a nice day!

Supply and demand is what drives price.

Good luck with the fabricating. :beerchug:

those 124 dashes are not that hard to get I have a bunch of them the problem is removing the fiberglass with out breaking the bolts off I scrapped many that were decent but the bolts snapped off if you want one to bolt on correctly I would post in the wanted section then maybe you can get one for your price now on pricing some guys do this full time and this is how they make their living and to stay alive to supply we have to buy and salvage the unit hoping somebody buys the parts that are good cause sometimes they are pretty bad and we cant charge for the junk parts and I am not after anybody just for information
