carb won't adjust???
Hey everyone,
I've seen posts on carburetors not adjusting but couldn't find them. I just rebuilt the carb on an original that wasn't running when I purchased it. It had been sitting for a few years. Got it ready for the first start, sediment bowl clean, checked for spark and cleaned and rebuilt the carburetor. The tractor started with 3/4 choke and wouldn't run with any more or any less choke. I started with 1 1/2 turn out on idle and 2 turns out on main. When given the throttle it would spit and sputter. As a test, I screwed the idle needle valve in all the way while it was running on 3/4choke and it made no change. Any thoughts...I was thinking maybe the holes in the main needle valve didn't get completely clean. :bigthink: |

I always make sure ALL the holes in the carbs are very clean before putting them back together. Is everything sealed up good? No suction leaks around mounting flange, throttle shaft not loose in bore? |
a good way to check for leaks is spray the carb with starting fluid if it changes rpm you found a leak

Do you have it tight against the engine, or does it have a bad gasket? IE is it getting too much air somewhere else than through the air filter.
