Help with clutch problem!!
I just got my first IH cub cadet 108 I believe around '74. I was mowing my yard was half way finished. When the clutch started acting up. The tractor would not move forward or backwards. I was only able to get it to move if I pressed the pedal down about half way, then only would go in first gear and not very fast. What should I look for?

You might check to see if you sheared or lost a pin out of your driveshaft. If so its a cheap easy fix.

Welcome to the best Cub site on the net. Although these machines are near bullet proof they do wear out in the driveline area. When my son and I took the driveshaft and clutch out of our 102 the driveshaft looked more like a camshaft than a driveshaft with one area worn about halfway through and it still worked!!. As Grampie said take a look at the roll pins. It is best to have the rear off the ground, the engine running and in gear. Sometimes a roll pin will shear off in the shaft but both ends will still be sticking out making it look ok.

Welcome to OCC! Good luck with your 108.

I to would guess a spiral pin broke.

Clutch issues
Well I just tried again and it started working ok, but only for a short period. Then again it wouldn't move but only alittle if I pushed the peddle down abit and very slow. I did not see any pins sheared and could see the drive shaft spinning when I let off the clutch peddle. And Zippy1 what is a spiral pin and where is it located?
