k241 back fire

Hey guys. I just got my k241 into my pulling tractor. And I adjusted the carb and it idles fine. Once I get to half throttle it back fire and kills everything. The only thing done to it is .040 off the head. What could be my problem??

Sticking intake valve, intake valve not sealing, timing incorrect, timing may need advanced because of higher compression, running too lean......... your going to have to do some diagnosis. Way too broad of a question. Backfire through the intake is usually too lean. Backfire through the exhaust is too rich. MORE INFO PLEASE!

could be an ignition issue to. do you have the stock coil on it? there's a + & - on the coil. - side should go to the points and the condenser should be on the - also.

Check your carb settings. Go through the manual and set the carb up as it describes.

Check your grounds and other electrical connections.

These are just "preliminary" settings ..... you have to tune it to suit your engine. It's not a "set it and leave it" setting... If it's backfiring out the stack TURN THE FUEL DOWN and see if it helps.
