2084 oil in the air filter

I am posting on behalf of my brother. He has a 2084 that is blowing oil up into the air filter. He had the breather assembly replaced but he's still getting oil up into the air filter. His son says he uses quite a bit of oil when mowing at WOT. Is there any other cause for something like this?

Thanks for any help.

What is the oil level? In my experience, if the oil is overful, it will puke back up into the intake.

Oil level is good. From what I understand it does it no matter what the level is though.

He was told that oil could b getting past the rings an the engine might be going. Does that sound reasonable?

It is possible. What weight of oil is he running? Is the air filter clean?

a leaking rear crank seal will do that the flywheel blows it into the air cleaner

The only two things I know that causes oil to get into the air cleaner is a dirty filter or a worn engine.

That's not to say there's not other causes.

Do a leak down check on the cylinders.

It is my understanding that the oil is coming from the vent tube INSIDE of the air cleaner. Is that correct?

mine did the samething the rings wore out and I got through 2 qaurts of oil just messing around and hooking chains to my buddies gravely. it also covered the hole inside of my engine bay side panels and hood.

The last few posts make me think his engine is on its way out. Is this in need of a rebuild or something less?

Thanks for all if the help, as always.
