Winch
I have a 2000 lb Harbor Freight cheap winch ($49.99, Mod #68146) on the way. I want to mount it on a trailer for the occasional time I need to load a tractor or whatever. I plan on mounting it receiver style on the front tongue area of the trailer and powering off a deep cycle boat battery. I also have ideas about doing the same type receiver set up the front of a 1450. With the receiver set up I could move it from the trailer to the tractor when needed. Do you think the battery set up in the tractor could handle the amp draw? For those of you that have this done this before either with a trailer or a tractor, advice, pics, and ideas would be great.

winch
I have used one of their winches for several years on lawn tractors and my cub 122 running off the battery and so far have not had any problems with charging system keeping up.

It depends on how much weight you're pulling, and for how long. That winch draws 100+ amps under full load, and the 1450 alternator outputs 15 amps. The winch can draw amps 6x faster than you can replace them.
I use my 122 for winching logs, so added a large marine deep cycle battery for the purpose. Works great, just have to make sure I run the tractor long enough to fully recharge the battery after hard use. http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ighlight=winch |
Check out Sam Mac's winch he has on his Super that raises and lowers his sleeve hitch.
