I am proud to be a first time IH CC owner! any advice on starting the tractor after sitting for so long would be greatly appreciated! First question, the only pedal it has seems to be the rear wheel brake- where is the clutch???

The same edel for the brake is also the clutch. With a engine that has been sitting I usualy put about a cap full of oil down the spark plug hole and turn the engine over by hand multiple times with the spark plug out just to lube up the xylinder and rings. I would also rebuild/clean the carb really well. Clean up the points as well with some fine sandpaper. Change the oil and fresh fuel. It will smoke some at first untill that oil burns off. Just the way I've always done it. A freah spark plug wouldn't hurt eather. Nice find on the original cub cadet. I have three and always mm lookinv for more

Thanks for the quick and extremely helpful information- I am very pleased to be a part of this family! The man who purchased the '62 new, passed away years back and was VERY FOND of this piece of machinery. Last weekend I was chatting with his daughter (my neighbor in her 60's) and I saw this wheel attached to something yellow under a tarp in her garage. When I inquired about it, she removed the tarp, and, well, that was it- I had to have it!! She cried when I towed it off her property and said her dad is smiling right now....

I bet both her and her dad are glad it's being used now. Congrats on the purchase.

Some good advice that was given to me is mix in a few ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil with the gas before you put it in. That'll help clean things up as it gas is used. Good luck with the machine and congratulations!!
