creeper gear
 

Like to put a creeper gear on my 108 for tilling and snow thrower. My question is do you just cut the drive shaft down and reuse it? These are just a bolt on deal as far as i can tell. Any things to check when buying one? And do they interchange from NF to WF or are they a different unit? Going to post in wanted section thanks guys! :bigthink:

Not real sure if they are suppost to interchange but I took one off a 102 and put it on a 1000 and it works fine. But as far as the driveshaft goes the hole should already be in it and there should be a score mark on where to cut it

Yes, the creeper will fit the 70/100 series all the way up to the gear 82 series tractors. You would have to swap out the drive shaft coupling to the transmission if the creeper came off a narrow frame tractor. Also you would need to add a pipe extension to the vent on the creeper. Inspection is visual making sure gear teeth are not missing, cracks in any of the mount holes is a popular what to look for. You can operate the creeper by hand and see the under and regular drive working. Make sure the creeper comes with the input gear.

correct length cap screws, gasket, pin, and HY-Tran fluid will be needed. I'm getting ready to finally install my creeper to the 72. hope this has helped.

The nf and wf have a different bend on the handle and one from a nf will rub against the slot hole thingy on a wf.I guess you could use a flame wrench to bend it....but why not get the right one?

I took some pictures to show the differences,NF on the left and WF on the right.The NF has a shorter handle and it does not not extend beyond the case as much as the Wf one has.Also the handles are bent slightly different on an angle.

In my opinion it is a very lucky man who can just happen to have not one BUT two creeper gears just laying around waiting for a reason to take their pictures. Good job!

I have seen both ways nf in a wide frame and wf in a narrow frame and neither worked well both did not engage the whole way and under a hard load jumped out of gear just get the right one for your tractor on things to look for 1st spin it a round a few times to check the bearings 2nd looking from the back as you turn it there is 3 planet gears that run in a big gear make sure those are good 3rd on the shifter the roll pin thru the shift fork they tend to wear the hole in the shifter had one that the guy said was blown but the roll pin was wore and never went in to gear

Thanks did know about about the handles or vent! Thanks for the pics that makes it so nice. Someone told me if they tend to pop out of gear the shift fork is bad? Not sure if there is any truth to that, but my father had a 73 that the trans did the same thing and the fork was bad on it. Ok got a hit in the wanted section crossing my fingers know these aren't easy to find. Thanks again guys.
