I can't take credit for the thought, but I did read it in a recent thread here about how if previous owners knew how to fix/take care of these cubs, we might not have had the chance to own our beloved cubbies.

So, here's the deal. Post your story of those things that the previous owner couldn't figure out and what you needed to do to get your cub up and running again.

Here's my story(s).

My first Original (center) ran. But the S/G was basically a welder. Turned out that the PO had the wires crossed. ALso, EVERY fastener was loose! EVERY ONE! Think about it. :bash2:
(of course, I didn't have a problem with over-tightened bolts) :biggrin2:

My second Original (right) didn't run and owner just wanted it gone. Good thing he didn't have a points file! :biggrin2:

Bought this one a few years ago, PO thought the engine was toast. Turned out it had a bad PTO bearing and it was locked up.

I don't have one of these stories. My 149 was running when I got it, but I like this thread. Keep it going guys.

Picked up a 108 cheap because the spring that actuates the neutral safety switch had broken off, and the guy started going through the ignition circuits and finally gave up.

Got this Super from the neighbor.....655 hrs on it...missing side covers....
Wanted it gone cause it wouldnt start...

Cleaned fuel bowl and sparkplugs....Lo and behold it runs!

Did I tell ya it was free???

I usually get them like that, the 1861 had no plastic, the pto bearing was froze, my neighbor gave it to me
