Cub 1250- Hydro Rear Is Stuck In Reverse
On the Cub Cadet I've been working on, I have the engine running, but I discovered that the transaxle wants to stick in reverse.
Even if you have the brake/clutch pedal completely depressed and the speed control in the neutral setting, cranking the engine results in the tractor wanting to run backwards. I sprayed down the linkage with PB Blaster, and made sure the bell crank under the dash was not stuck. I also lubricated the linkage all the way back to the rear end and made sure none of it was stuck. With it freed up, I used some grease and greased the pivots. Still, it wants to run in reverse any time it is running. I worked on an earlier model Hydrostatic Cub 123 with a friend and it had the same problem. He said he knew how to cure it, so what we did was take off the fill plugs on the rear end, top it off with a light hydraulic oil(I think he used AW-32) and then we rolled it back and forth until the oil bled out as well as any bubbles. I can honestly say that did solve the issue, as the tractor is still owned locally and still being used. Does what I described actually do anything ? What can I do to get the transaxle of this Cub 1250 to work properly and not be stuck in reverse ? PS: If anyone has a Carburetor for a K321 or K341 that needs rebuilt and they would sell it, please contact me. Thank you for your continued assistance. |
What you described with the 123 should have had no effect on it going in reverse, and I don't suggest mixing oils like that, as you could end up with a rear full of jelly. It should have hytrans in it. It sounds like the neutral position needs adjustment, check out page 80 here....

What he said. That should fix it.

If it does, hopefully no one has messed with the other linkage adjustments (because from my experience) that is almost never the problem. If the link provided earlier is for the neutral adjustment then that should cure what ales you. |
The manual also goes on to explain adjusting the linkages after it explains neutral adjustment.

When my 782 was stuck in forward and no reverse, it was one of my relief valves was stuck. That would be my suggestion-check the relief valves. Mine relief valve actually went bad and Had to be replaced.
