Vintage spinner knob's?

My original had a knob on the wheel at one time. Did they make them when the tractor's were new? If so, can I find one, or a repro. now?

I got mine at tractor supply. I have the aluminum and it turns my hand gray after mowing.

I scoured the 1963 Parts and Accessory Catalog and seen no mention of Steering Wheel Spinner Knobs. Thus, I would draw the conclusion, that (A) it was a later offering by IH, or (B) it is aftermarket.

IH sold spinner knobs, but not made by IH. If your looking for an "old looking" one you need one made of wood.

Here's a link to one on E-bay. The older ones weren't painted though. Look around, they're out there. I personally don't like the wood ones, as they wear, they had a tendency to pinch your skin.....

I don't like spinner knobs period....they get in the way of driving IMO. Can't stand 'em.

Most of the ones on my tractors are aluminum too, and they turn my hand grey also.

I typically run a hydro with one hand on the lever at all times and the other on the wheel, and have for years. Never had a problem steering/maneuvering without one of those ridiculous knobs; I have gotten quite good at palming it. Then when I do want to go two handed the knob isn't in the way. You'll never see one on one of my tractors. :beerchug:

Both my big row crop tractors have them and I have one on my mini 4x4 pasquale, I love them on those rigs I plan to add one to my cubs but haven't got around to it yet, if you have a John Deere dealer near you they have rubber covered ones, they work better than the rest. But you might have to take paint thinner to get the Deere logo off right away, or it'll wear off in an month or two!

Seems like a coat of clear would help that. I have an aluminum shifter handle in my Jeep and that's what they did with it. After 6-8 years it's finally getting to where it needs recoated.
