ih cub 1200 paint
what kind and brand of paint does everyone use......even if it is spray can? i am getting ready to paint my 1200.......prob by a spray can......does krylon make a color that is close to original paint?

Rustoleum #7770 almond is very close. I compared it side by side to IH white after spraying and letting them both dry. As far as the yellow, I took a small sample to my local hardware/paint store and the guy did a computer match. I haven't been able to find a yellow in a rattle can to match IH yellow. If you don't have paint spraying ability you might have to settle for a yellow that's a little different or you might get lucky and find a closer match than I have.
I would also use a gray primer instead of red oxide. The lighter color doesn't effect the color of the finish coat as much (so I've been told). Good luck...Wayne |
Go to Tractor supply. I bought both Yellow and white Valspar rattle cans and it's a factory color match 4.99 a can. I did my back rims with 1 can. I then stocked up on 5-8 cans. You will be impressed at the color match!!
Edit...Valspar numbers are 5339-26 white 5339-25 Yellow. If I were restoring a tractor, I would also go to Napa and have it mixed ,but I am not no painter and I am happy enough with. Merk has some dandy looking tractors there, but I would be afraid of scratching them if I owned them. |
I use Napa brand Cross Fire acrlic enamel paint.

dieseldog558,
If you are going to use spray bombs, then the Valspar from TSC is the way to go, the color match really is pretty close and the price is pretty good too. I use it a lot for individual parts, Cub Cadet Yellow 5339-25 and Cub Cadet Beige 5339-26 just like bignastyGS said. |
