1100

I have recently picked up an 1100 and I was wondering how to adjust the carb on it. When trying to start it backfires out of the muffler and runs somewhat on half choke. Any help would be appreciated.

Your 1100 should have a Briggs and Stratton motor if it's all orginal. Best thing to do is find a Operators-Service manual for a 1100 Cub Cadet. A Briggs and Stratton service would be a good thing to get for your motor.

The 1100 Cub Cadet was a low cost/dollar Cub. They had their own manual(s).

Don't know much bout B&S but u might wanna check the timing also. Manuals are a must they can solve a lot of probs. Can't imagine its to hard to adjust and rebuild that carb
Take care

1100 carb

Before you go thru all the usual possible problems, check the throttle control rod(it connects to the rod that passes thru the engine) check for play ,up and down, and side to side.If there is play?,the rod is worn out.my engine runs strong, but there is no way to control the RPM's,I ordered this part before the 4th of july, and in October, my dealer gave up trying to get a reply from B&S.He told me they were going thru a management change. The cost of the part was less than $20.00. I may run this engine until it blows, and then find a kohler as a replacement.:bash2:

Is this the rod that the throttle cable goes to? If so that might be another problem why it sometimes runs.

Throttle Control rod

If you are looking straight at the Carb,The first rod that passes thru the Carb,is the CHOKE control(that would be the first flap) behind that is the TH.CTRL.rod(that would be the 2nd flap)It is a part of the Carb itself. It connects to the throttle linkage on the opposite side of the engine. If you have play,(up,down, side to side),ity's the rod that is worn out NOT the Carb housing,They may sell a replacement Carb,But, I haven't checked it out yet.You can download a parts list @ Briggsand Stratton.com. You will need the Model#,the Type#,and the Code #.off of the engine. The numbers are stamped in the sheet metal heat shield. If that's your'e problem, and you can get the part, let me Know where you found it,and I'll buy one for mine.Good luck!:beerchug:
