Starting Problems
I'm going to guess I've a worn out starter generator.
I just moved everything over from my 128 to my 149. Motor always did turn slow and stop and i would have to get off of it while holding the key and take my foot and get the starter to go again. Would systems of a worn out starter generator be this. Also have cleaned all connections and so forth when i rewired it. |
Having gone through S/G's on two tractors in the last year, I suggest that you take the S/G to a generator shop and have them repair it. You might pay as much as an new fleabay generator, but you will have the original generator back on the tractor. I bought a new generator from a shop in Logan, WV (fleabay). Very nice and worked fine. $125. delivered. I took my old S/G to a shop about 40 mikes away and had them rebuild it. $117.00 plus gas (it needed everything except field coiis). Both work fine. You might get by with a repair kit, but why mess with it? Usually, S/G's that are 35 or 40 years old need more stuff than just bearings and brushes.
Good luck! |
I am going to take it to a shop, I don't want a junk reman. I'm just trying to get this old cub to be as reliable as it once was.
