126 Discharging help

Fired up the 126 today, greased it and noticed that the charging gauge shows that its discharging while its running. This is the first time its ran all spring and this happened one other time before a bit ago. I think last year. Any ideas?

:Welcome2: Where are you located in NY, but sounds like a short to me.

Welcome! Check the battery voltage with the engine running. Sounds like the voltage regulator didn't kick in and start charging. Should be 12.8-14.4V

I am in Lewiston NY which is about 2 hrs from you, I think. However I am in Dansville/Angelica area very very frequently (about every other weekend)

Thanks! I will check it out when I get home and let you know. I read somewhere that you have to reverse the wires on the generator?

I guess somehow the polarity got reversed in there and if you reverse the wires it will then reverse the discharging process. Im not claiming its right or wrong - im just stating what someone told me but heck if i know:HeadScratch:
