Bought a D662 Kubota engine today
I hope to get it home in a couple of days. This is supposed to be a 18 horsepower model. It's condition is unknown, so I am looking forward to checking it out. It will go in one of the two 782's I picked up a couple of weeks ago.

Pulled the D662 out of the Jacobson golf course mower frame yesterday and cleaned it up today. Fixed the stuck starter solenoid and got to crank it over and found compression, so it should run. Thankfully, there were no broken rod sounds like the KT 17 had! Gotta take a break from it for a couple of weeks and then the fun of installing it in the 782 will begin. The required picture is attached.

I am in the process of doing the same thing on my 682. The Jacobson I got a hold of had the 950 engine in it and it appears to be allot taller then the 600. Unfortunately I have been unable to get any work done on it. I will be watching your progress.:beerchug:

Regarding the mounting-I am not sure yet. I plan to use the front engine/ radiator mount which came with the engine and modify it to fit. I have looked at the IPB of the engine and its mounting that is in the Chassis Manual (Illust. 1-151 Power unit exploded view) and will try to use that as a guide. I sure wish I knew someone locally with a real 782D so I could see firsthand how CCC did it. Oh well, it may not be as pretty, but we will make it work.

782D project has ended
A friend who repairs lots of Kubota engines in large commercial mowers told me I should pull the head on my D660 and make sure it was not cracked before I went too far with the 782D project. He sees a lot of them that have been cracked due to overheating. Mine came out of a Jacobsen golf course mower. Sure enough, it has multiple small cracks and cannot be used. I don't want to spend the money for a new one, so the 782 will be getting a different engine. I still have the good K321 that I removed from the 1450 when I installed a k341, so it will be now go into the 782. That will make life much simpler and cheaper too. I now have several new "spares" for the 1782 too.
