Diesel Rear
I Have a friend Mike G. who is not a member but sometimes reads here. He is having normal trouble with his 1572 rear end, loose mounting bolts. he asked if i could post the question about mounting a cast iron rear in the diesel super. I know this is a big question with a lot of different issues. Pump gearing?, fuel tank?, pto clearance?, driveshaft?, brakes?. I thought maybe use heli-coils and be done with it, but any info one way or the other would be great. Thanks Dave

Will the cast iron rears work in the diesels? I was always told they wouldn't due to the fuel tank and clearance problems. Now I'm curious. :bigthink:

I thought they would fit but I'm not sure. I need to change one of mine over if I can ever find the time. I would pull it out and see if it could be repaired first and if not call Mr. SamMac on his rebuilt one.

Supers have different gearing than the GT’s, the number of teeth on the pump output shaft and the reduction gear are different. Otherwise they are the same. I don’t know if a cast rear will fit as stated before you may have clearance issues with the fuel tank. As long as it’s not busted up you can helicoil the threads. You are going to have to pull it out of the tractor to do it right. While you have it out at least change the cork gasket and the axle seals. See if you can get some pics of it.
