Wide Frame PTO Rockshaft
Can anyone tell me for sure if the front PTO rockshaft is the same between a brake type and a non brake type PTO on a Wide Frame tractor?
It seems like there should be some difference in spacing between the "tang" and the two types of PTO. |
I can't answer the question directly, but I think I'd just use either the fiber button or the brake arrangement, depending on the rockshaft I had. My 149, for example, came with one or the other, depending on when it was made. My particular unit was a 1972 so it does not have the brake.

Along this same line, my neighbor down the road has a 169 with the Brake Shoe cup bolted to the PTO Clutch Rockshaft. However his 169 is missing the entire PTO pulley assembly, including the IPTO brake disc. I'm thinking he might save $75 by getting a non-brake style PTO pulley assembly but I don't know if a bronze wear button will fit the brake style PTO clutch rockshaft. Any ideas?

the arms and the hole to mount the brake are not the same the button type has a smaller hole in the arm

I removed the brake type from my 169 not long after i got it.
I much prefer the fiber button type. I changed the rockshaft You can see the arm is welded more on the front of the shaft in this first picture. its off of the 169. http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...painted002.jpg This next picture is the one i installed from a earlier model Cub. http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...painted003.jpg One on the left is the brake type. One on the right is the button type. http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...painted004.jpg |
