Wheel Bearings for 1250
I picked up a set of sealed bearings for the front from NAPA, part #7-04292. I tried one on the spindle which slid on easily but with no slop and then tried it in the wheel. The outside pressed in easily by hand and the inside seemed like it would go in with a lite tap with a hammer. Seems too loose, considering I had to drive the originals out with a punch. Also, I had a heck of a time getting the wheels off using a pry bar between the knuckle and wheel hub and hitting the end of the spindle then finishing up with a 2x4 smacked with a single jack on the backside of the wheel. So it was nice to see the new bearing slide onto the spindle.
Did I get the wrong bearing?. Is there a different NAPA bearing that will be a press fit into the wheel? I guess this is what happens when you buy Cub parts local. Thanks |
I just pulled my front wheels & removed the bearings. The right front wheel took alot of effort to get it off, the bearing & axle were dry, I'm willing to bet those are the original bearings. The left front wheel came off really easy but it looked like it had fresh grease on the bearing, probably had to pull the wheel to fix a flat is my guess. I drove out the bearings & like you said they were in there pretty snug, it took a few good wacks on each bearing.
I never thought about NAPA having those bearings, I found some on CC Specialties but I haven't ordered them yet. The heavy duty bearings were $13a pair & the super heavy duty were $26 a pair. I'm cleaning the wheels getting ready to repaint them & I'm adding grease zerks to them before the go back on the axle. |
The bearing should gone the spindle very easily and as for the wheel you can take a gamer and a ouch and put a few dimples in the wheel to make the bearing fit snug.:beerchug:

I wrap the outside of the bearing with aluminum duct tape when I have a loose one. I used NAPA bearings and they worked fine on my 1250. One wheel pressed in, one I had to use tape.

Has anyone found National(Moog) or skf part numbers for these bearings???

I need bearings for 2 QLs. It will cost a fortune even at Napa. If I could get the bearings from Rockauto I bet it would be significantly cheaper. |

Thanks Roland :beerchug:
I just printed that to stick in Cub Cadet folder |
