Cub lesson

What is "CCC" cub? I incorrectly posted a question here about my uncle's 1015. I opened the hood and saw that is was not an MTD. I still have a lot to learn.

Cub Cadet Corporation.

Thanks. I guess they are not in the same league as IH? I can understand how MTD is frowned on. Are the "CCC"s that much worse than IH? And if so, how?

I don't think that they are "that much worse" at all. Matter of fact for most of the late 80's the CCC cubs were the same as the IH Cubs with the exception of the paint job.
Yes there are differences between the 2 but not that great of differences. The main one that I can think of would be the IH cubs having a cast iron rear end while most of the CCC cubs have an aluminum rear end. Another is most of the CCC cubs have a belt drive nowadays.
CCC was a distinct, almost stand alone subsidiary for many, many years after the IH Cub unit was bought by MTD. CCC cubs have always been built at its own separate plant located in Brownsville, Tn. No other mtd units are built there, only cubs.
I am sure that others can expand on this limited explanation. I hope that I've helped somewhat.

That certainly explains a lot. Thanks. No doubt, my 122 is a tank compared to the 1015. So I'd imagine anything built after the good old "IH" days, aren't very desireable. The mower deck has issues. The local dealer says that he can't get parts. The 1015 was servised two years ago at the dealer. It runs great. I thought I might try to fix the deck and just mow with it. All of my hauling and plowing will be with the 122. Thanks again for your knowledge.

The 1015 is a lawn tractor, not a garden tractor, so you can't directly compare that to a 122. The CCC garden tractors built in the 80s are just as good as the IH ones IMHO.

hi i work at the MTD plant Martin, TN. We closed the doors on Brownsville, TN plant summer of 09. We make all cub cadets now from the Rt99, LT5, GT, RZT mowers. I do like the GT2000, and 3000's but i know they come with there own prices. I work in the pressroom at the plant and cub cadets have the best parts compared to all of the other 25 different brands we own and make.

Thanks for the info! Can you tell me the plant my CC LTX1046VT came from? I've always wanted to know if it came down the same line as a Husky. I noticed the exhaust was the same, and how about the engines, are they the same?
Thanks,
Mouse
PS It drives and cuts like a dream!
