Onan carb issue

I think I know the answer but I'm going to ask anyway. I have a B48G on a green tractor that runs okay but not great. I pulled the air cleaner off and looked into the carb when running and the fuel is just sort of dripping into the throat of the carb. Shouldn't it kind of mist the fuel into the air coming through the carb or am I thinking wrong?

I will have to agree with you Oak. Now you any good at setting up carbs? I thought mine was set up good, but after mowing with it for about 5 minutes, I assume it was heating up like normal, and it would then cut out on me. After doing this a few times, it then wouldn't restart, because I still have to fix the field in my clutch after it heats up, it will not restart until after it cools down. :bash2: Onans are great engines, just frustrating as heck to deal with their quirky things!

I agree with you, sounds like the emulsion tubes if they have them in the Onan carb may be plugged. My guess is the guys on the Green site can better answer your question http://www.weekendfreedommachines.org/
Sorry I don’t have an answer for you.

My father in law just brought his 318 over and it had the "Surge" going on....Some good old cleaning of the air passages and jets and it was good to go! It was pouring gas down the throat of the carb everytime it would surge low.....

Also, they say that the split intake manifold will start to leak after time on these so keep an eye out for that.

I did a repower on my 318 with a kohler Command 20 and getting ready to do the same wit my 420...

Both blew rods at around 1800 hrs...

Thanks guys. I never looked into it any deeper and just ran some MMO in it mowing a few times and it ran great. It was a JD 420 and a local guy purchased it from me. I will say that it did run a little better then my 982 and JD did an awesome job building a nice machine.

Had both, will take the 420 all day long.

But I do love my 1872 with PS!!
