Outrageous Cost of Hydraulic Plow Angle Cylinder
 

Was watching a angle cylinder for a plow on evilbay and could not believe that thing went for over 240 bucks!!!!! WTH.

My buddy's health is not good and I was trying to get something to help him out with his plow, but the price on that was just ridiculous and I know that they do not come up very often. I was thinking 75 bucks MAX.......but 240...that was just crazy.

I have looked high and low and cannot find any suitable substitutions for those things cuz there is no way that I am paying that kind of cash for an old used cylinder.

Any body else come up with a mechanical way to angle the plow without the hydro cylinder?

I saw that. Did it even have brackets with it?

Something I'm going to try soon is a cylinder they sell for angling on truck snow plows. They make some pretty small ones that look like they have enough travel to do the job. Cost was $60-90 for the cylinder new when I checked on it in a magazine at work.

I was watching that too. No brackets just the cylinder and the hoses with fittings. Can't believe it went for that much.

I was watching too and couldn't believe it. Good thing I found this NOS one at my honeyhole. Wish I had a blade to put it on, then again, what the he!! do I need a snow blade in Georgia for. Sorry guys it's not for sale at this time.:biggrin2:

Hey Ksanders, I have looked and looked for cylinders and I cannot find any with the exact same dimensions as the cubby's, and they need to be DA, double acting.
It has really surprised me on how little there is out there on doing a mod on this.
I don't need one of these things myself at all, but it would just be so awesome if I could borrow my buddy's tractor and give it back to him all fixed up with a remote angle of some sort on his cub. Not giving up now though, gonna be keep looking, somebody out there has come up with a better mouse trap.

I was also watching and all ready to bid, but when I saw the price, decided I will make something else work. I am going to look at our cylinders at work again. We had one that was close all the way around, but the ends would not work. Need to see if I can modify this to make it work. If I should come up with an answer, I will let you guys know.

I have a cylinder on my 1572 blade (homemade) that's actually used to lift and lower the blade using front hydraulics and lift separate from the rear blade or deck. The cylinder would be perfect for power angle and appears to have been purchased new from a truck blade catalog. I'll try to get some pics. It won't have quite the ram length of a factory one but a good substitute.

Is this not the same cylinder? It's been a while since I researched them but I think this has the same dimensions, stroke, etc...

that only a single acting so it wouldn't work if i remember right it has an odd ball stroke or close center lenght i was going to have one made but i found a new complete kit for a good price.
