Cub 106 wont hold a charge!
Hello!
My name is Christian. I am new to joinning the site although I have looked through a lot of threads on here before to help me. Okay lets get down to business, I restored my cub 106 this past summer, came out great! It ran just fine all fall and now I went out to start it and the battery was dead. Put a charger on it to jump it, got her started, plowed for 15 mins, shuts off, no battery charge, jump it again it starts right up then plow for 15 mins, shuts off again.what could be doing this?! P.S. I did have to rewire the ignition because i broke a wire, i changed the plug and the points look fine. Any help would be great! Thank you! :) happy new years! |
sounds like start generator isn't charginging check the regualtor and wiring and make sure the connetions are tight

Thank you i will check that out tomorrow! That could be true. How do u tell when you need a new regulator?

If you repainted it without taking care to make sure all the electrical components were grounded properly, that could be the problem. It sounds like the voltage regulator might not be properly grounded. I'd check that out before getting too wild looking for other stuff.

I took it completely apart to paint it so that shouldnt be a problem i wouldnt think. Ill check out the volt. Reg. tomorrow. Hopefully a simple fix

That's exactly why it would be a problem. There has to be bare metal contact between all of the chassis parts so that they will be connected electrically to each other.

Just curious,do you have a new battery on it or is it an old one ? It does sound more like a voltage regulator issue. You can take the starter/generator off an go to most auto parts stores an they can test to see if its ok....
