Super 982 good deal?

Hello all and happy new year. I have a red-one question. I found a 982
(minus engine) for sale on ebay. The frame looks sorta semi-solid from the pics. It comes with a haban snowblade and a rough deck, I know it may look rough but come on, its a super 982. The good part is that he is asking $200. So what do you guys think, deal or no deal? I am at a loss on this one so any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Here is the ad . http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cub-Cadet-98...item3f20a2d8db

I saw the same listing. I enlarged the pictures as much as I could and there is a lot of rust and grime from sitting outside. I wouldn't bid until I could inspect everything. I couldn't justify the total cost of the auction plus fuel to pick it up. If I were closer I would consider inspecting it and making an offer. Just my opinion

That's less than 60 mi from my house, but it's really in rough shape. I think I'd rather pay more and get something running, and I'd want a 3 pt hitch. Not that I need another tractor...

Even if the frame was rusted on that thing, it is still well worth the money.
Wouldn't give over 350 for it.
You would have at the very least a good frame and shell to start with.

I would say if the snow blade is all there and in fair shape , it would be worth 200.00. And if you had another 82 series to swap parts with even better . 400.00 would be my top dollar. Just me though.

Thanks for all the input and help guys. I took a ride to see it today. Unfortunately no pics. What I saw was not all that good. It was Definitely a fixer upper. It looked like the PO did not care what so ever. Although The trans and hydro pump did seem to be in good shape. Other than that there isnt really much else I can say about it, its a 982 without an engine that's been sitting out side for years.

I have been thinking though. I recently bought a 682. Do you think a a KT 17 series 2 would power a 982? I know its not the *Big Onan* but do yall think it would suffice. Would the 17 put out enough power.
Also (im considering all my options) I have a Mag 18 twin out of a crapsman sitting on the shelf. Would that fit in the 982's frame? Or should I just wait for a better one to come along?
Sorry for the long post.

When I first saw the ad I was going to try to buy it and put the hydraulics/brakes/steering on my 682 and have a small "super". The problem is its a 14 hour round trip. If I were close like you that's what I would do. I think that would make an awesome custom tractor.

Duke just put a Mag out of a Crapsman in his 782. As far as I know it's pretty much a bolt in swap. If you can find a cheap 2185 the CH18 in it is a cool engine and you can change the carb and make it a CH22.
