NF cub hydraulic lift help
 

Hello everyone, I'm brand new to this site so forgive me if I'm not doing this right. I have an original cub cadet handed down from my father in law. The tractor has a hydraulic lift pump for the snow plow (never had a mower deck), the issue is that the blade only goes up intermittently. I'm hoping it's just a fluid level problem, but, without much experience with this sort of thing, I can't figure out how to check or add fluid to this pump. There is no obvious holding tank for fluid. I'm told this was a dealer added pump back in the 60's when it was bought by my wife's grandfather. I appreciate any help. Thanks!

See page 10 for the oil, I always use hytrans ( non synthetic )

I have never seen that set up before in my life. You either have something exceptionally rare or a very well made one off. Hoping someone here can help you out.

All I really know about these tractors is that they are pretty cool. I'd take this "tractor" over my uncle's 10 year old "riding mower" any day. Thanks in advance for any help.

Your serial # is on the gear reduction housing on the right side of the tractor. It is stamped into it. It is either 3,4,or 5 #s

Welcome to OCC! That's a nice O, you have there! I've never seen a hydraulic setup like that either. :beerchug:

From what I can find it is as stated, very rare, or its a ford or Bolens lift unit because it's mounted backwards from the stock cub ones. Now, even though it's a different pump, it should have a plug on the cylinder like tank on the pump, the tank may have been rotated and the plug could be on the bottom or back side where you can't see it.
