Wel I decided to go ahead and remove the kt17 from the 782 while I'm waiting on the oil seal to get here. Just to do some cleaning. I don't think this thing has ever been off none of the bolts looked to be touched or anything and it defiantly looks like 33 years of gunk built up a lot with a 3 year oil leak adding to it. I got the old putty knife out.and I bet it was a half to 3/ inch deep in some spots. I might.tear it down further to do some more cleaning... The hydro pump looks as if it.dosnt even have cooling fins on it. I snapped acouple pics. One of shortly after I got the engine pulled after I scraped some stuff off and found a bunch of corn on the frame rail. In the " clean" pic you can see the pile of junk off of the axle crossmember .. its nasty.. and that factory.red is Purdy what's the oddest think yall have found laying in the years of gunk ?

:bash2: Now your making me wish I had went ahead and done that with my 1711 while I had the drive shaft out for repairs.

Looking good on the cleaning. Most times I remove most of the crap from the years of abuse. Then I power wash it.
Sometimes I find the screws for the points cover.
Found a head bolt and washers.

One time I found a whole nickle and went to the candy store on my bicycle and bought some bazooka gum...:biggrin2:

When I took my 782 apart, I couldn't tell it had a hydro in it. It was up to the top of the frame in some kind of varmits nest. Yours looks good now!

Lew,

I have a similar story about money in a Cub. I was cleaning and re-wiring my 124 this summer. It was pretty rough, needed a good cleaning. got it all wired up, cleaned the carb, etc. Turned it over and got it chuffing a little. I heard a BANG against the shed wall. Didn't think anything of it. Turned it over again and it fired, and two more loud bangs against the wall. I walk over to the end of the building (a good 10 feet from the tractor) and it turns out it was a nickel and two pennies that flew out of the muffler....:beer2:

That's funny with the money in the muffler. Must have been little kids around at some point my daughter and my buddy's son love stocking things in the mufflers of my.stuff. I still remember past.easter and starting my truck and watching a stream of different colors.shoot out of the.exhaust
