New Cub Cadet 147 owner!

I scored big on this deal, I had to help my best friend clear out a a family members property and clean it up for auction! Well after 7 days of shoveling through s--t, I made a deal that I get the 147 with a mower deck and snow blower, plus a pretty cool little simplicity stallion twin 7 lawnmower, plus a lot of other hand tools, and what not. If I would have taken pay it would have been around $500, So I think I came out way ahead! lol. The 147 does run and drive pretty dang good! The mower deck spins freely and the snow blower needs a little TLC and a few parts to make it work.

Well my goals for the 147, is fix it up nice, tinker with the motor and pull some more power out of it! Maybe figure out how to do a air over hydraulic lift for the deck and snow blower, and what ever other attachments I can find. I have read too many bad things about the electric lift and the one on it somebody messed with already. I'm also going to go through and replace all the wiring!

Is there any way to convert the hydrostatic forwards reverse control to foot operated?

Welcome to OCC, glad to have you here. Those 147's are real nice. The first Narrow Frame with a motor larger than 12HP. Yep we try to keep a G rated site, there are kids and wives that do read and look thru the site from time to time. :beerchug:

i apologize for the language, and thank you for the warm welcome.

ya im loving this tractor! does anybody know of a good place to find a front pulley to work with the snow thrower? i know im missing a few other parts, im gonna be doing a over haul on it starting tomorrow, and clean it up. im probably going to get hung for this lol but im gonna be a little creative with painting it, its the hot rodder in me wanting to custom paint everything! lol

i've been reading a lot of guys who are using there tractors with the snow thrower say to set up a brake pedal on each rear wheel to help with traction? any thought on this and if anybody knows a good link or user who has a thread on it please let me know.

welcome to occ. and from the pic , it looks like you need a clutch on the engine.

look in the 4sale section and post in the parts wanted. we cant see behind the thrower so we are not sure what you need there.

so its a clutch setup that goes on the front off the crank? and with that could you change it to a chain drive? little better grip. ive been trying to find pics of how the drive setup works, i know im missing the lift bar from the thrower to the lift cylinder on the tractor, and the handle that adjust the chute. i know a lot of what i have to do is replace some bearings and other odds and ends.

I think we should move your post to the IH Cub Cadet Tractors (GT) section. You will get more people viewing it and more help with your questions. Any of the mods can move it but I don't move a post without first telling the poster why.

I would stick with the belt drive on the snowthrower. I kind of think a chain drive would be a PIA unless all you are going to use the tractor for is snow throwing and just pulling stuff around the yard. No way would you be able to run a mower deck with a chain. The belt drive set up transfers plenty of power for the thrower if set up correctly.
