70?

Well in two days Ive managed to buy 2 cubs I think we have the fever for sure. I posted a pics yesterday of the one we bought then and today we went to look at another one .I"ll post pics tomorrow . Im not sure just exactly what it is Its suppose to be a 70 and it looks like the 70s pics Ive seen, its got really faded 70 decals and a 7 horse kohler for sure.. I can read that model number....But I cant find the serial number for the life of me....Got dark on me so I gave up...Looked in what think is the right places the top of the rearend, the little machined pad on the right side next to the upside down casting code but no number stamped there. Is there anywhere else I should look? Im 95% sure its a 70 but still would like to find that number...Well if Im missing something let me know cause its one of those deals that bugs me till I get home from work tomorrow .....Sorry if this is stupid question but Im new to this so bear with me I always try to read before I ask...And I did but it wasnt anywhere it was suppose to be.....Thanks Randy

Good question.
Thew 70/100s had the serial number in 2 different places.
Here is where the serial number is on my 70:

The 70 was made in Feburary of 1965.
My 100 has the serial number on the reduction housing.

The 100 was made in June of 1964.

There is a possibility that the rear end did not start it's life in a 70 or a 100.
