Tires 20x9x8
 

I'm having a hard time trying to find some rear tires for my Cub 1515 (2003 vintage). I'm getting ready to Winterize her and I thought I would go ahead and replace the dry rotted leaking tires. 20x9x8 is what is on there and apparently these are really hard to find. There are some ATV tires available, but want to stick with a lawn tractor tread.

Through some research including this board some say a 20x10x8 will work just find. I have a hard time trying to comprehend how a one inch larger diameter tire would seal.

Can anyone fill me in on how well a 10" tire would seal on a 9" rim??

The tire diameter and wheel diameter must match. However, are you sure it's not an 8" rim? In tire sizes, the first number is the nominal outer diameter, the second the width, and the third the wheel diameter. I have never seen or heard of a 9" diameter lawn tractor wheel...

Like Matt said, last number is tire size. Sounds like everyone who has suggested that tire for you is correct.

Maybe I'm measuring them wrong. From the outside of the rim to the outside of the rim (diameter across the wheel) is 9".

I think you would be fine with a 20 x 10 x 8 tire.

That is not diameter, that's the width of the rim. Diameter refers to the measurement of a circle.

I went over to measure my 14" Mopar wheel and the diameter is 15.5". I thought I was losing my mind there for a minute. Now I can start to hunt for some 20x10x8 AG tires.
