Stuck steering wheel???
I have very frequently in past couple of days been checking on the stuck steering wheel thread but there is still nothing there. The stuck steering wheel on my 122 is keeping me from going any farther . Can anybody tell me how im supposed to get it off?

I have had great success with the air chisel a 3/8 bolt with the head cut off and lots and lots of PB Blaster sprayed onto the steering wheel for a few days before removal.

I've had some horribly rusted wheels, all came off by using a 5-6" long bolt and nut. Nut threaded on shaft 1/2 way then bolt threaded in and tightened. As mentioned above, already soaked with PB Blaster.... then with knees under wheel applying pressure upward smack end of bolt with a hammer.
Removed a 39 9N steering wheel this way I NEVER thought would come off! Good Luck! |
Stuck steering wheel
I didn't really like hammering on the shaft, so I tapped 2 holes at a slight outward angle and used a harmonic balancer puller. I tapped the holes at an angle so the bolts would go thru the slots in the puller . I used a 10 -32 tap. Worked great . Chris

I don't know if this will work on a 122 but it worked on my 782. I used Matt G.'s idea. I used a treated 2X4 instead of oak but it worked fine. This goes under the wheel and then connected to a harmonic balancer or steering wheel puller. Oh, of course the washers shown on the vertical bolts go on the top side of the puller.
