Removing Lift Rock Shaft From 1711

I have a SN 716388 & Up version of the rock shaft, so it looks like this: http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=c...&dn=0028600055

It's been sitting for some time without a tunnel cover so part number one and two on that list are frozen together. Does anyone have any tips or tricks for disassembling this? I've removed both of the roll pins and it refuses to budge. PB Blaster or a torch are my normal go to for things that are stuck but the piece is so wide I wanted to see what other people had tried before I started going at it.

I think I'd go straight to the torch. I have one frame from a parts tractor that has a rockshaft stuck so bad I think I'm going to have to build a fire around the rockshaft to clean out all the rust so it can be separated...

I had one frozen also. Probably not recomended, but I took a 3' long steel shaft and a BF sledgehammer and beat on it for a long time and soaked it for at least a week in PB. It finally got freed up. I would beat it from behind then beat it back from the front.

This was the hardest thing I have ever done on any Cub. I know I spent 4 to 5 hours beating until she started breaking free. Good Luck! You will need it.:beerchug:

Hmm, that's what I was afraid of. I might try to press the shaft out first. If that doesn't work I'll try the torch. Thanks!

Try this stuff called Kroil. I work in a refinery and thats all they give us to use on rusted equipment. It penetrates rust like no other. Its like PB Blaster on steroids.
