Did I get a decent deal?
 

All of these overpriced threads have gotten me thinking. I'll say first, that my cub is exactly what I wanted, so no matter what anyone says, it won't make me have second thoughts, or hurt my feelings. Just curious.


Mine is a 100, it starts right up, and runs like a top. The first thing I did with it when I got it home was pulled my honda civic up a slight hill, and it succeeded. It has brand new 23" tractor tires on the back, and new tires on the front. It has a brand new brinly sleeve hitch and a hydraulic lift that works very well. The seat on it is brand new, and the frame and all sheet metal is very solid, no rust whatsoever (other than a little surface rust on the hood). The front pto seems to work very well and engages easily, and it shifts into all 3 gears and reverse very easily. The only thing on it that doesn't work is the headlights and I could use 1/1000th of a braincell and fix that. I plan to use it to work about 4 acres of foodplots for deer hunting, push snow, and general work around my large acreage. Like I said, I'm real happy with it, and whatever you say won't hurt my feelings. Just wondering.

It runs, it has new tires, sleeve hitch, hydraulics. Fenders on yours is an option i believe.
I paid a lot less for mine when i bought them. but i also put a lot in them getting them to the point yours is :biggrin2.gif:

Same thing goes for bikes, boats, cars, garages,...... If its what you want, have fun.

Since you asked............I think that you paid way too much, but if you're happy with the deal, that's all that really matters! Enjoy it !!

You have kinda of a rare 100. From the pictures, it looks like it has every option with the exception of the rear weight box and the cigarette lighter. I have the same featured 100.

If you are happy and satisfied with the transaction, then that is all the matters.

You will love that 100. It is one generation up from the CCO and IH made a lot of improvements.

I personally think you paid i little much....just a little though and that is dependent on how much was done to it before you bought it. If all it needs is a paint job then ya did well in my eyes.
Ive spent the last two years buying new seals,gaskets, bearings, carb kits, fule line sleeves, springs,fuel bowles, Oil, Hydraulic fluid, buttons, knobs, missing parts, bails, tools, ect, ect and i havent kept trac but i bet its up there.....I spent probably 100 dollars on pb blaster alone, had clutch discs turned, and have yet to buy throw out bearings, clutch discs, any clutch springs ect.
I have got both of my gear drives in non working order for free and a barter, all this to say i will be dropping some serious dough into both these tractors before its over.They need work!! Your tractor has alot of desirable things that have high value, creeper close to 200, fenders 200, lights 100+ hydraulic lift close to 300, rear hitch 100, tires 200. and if everything has pretty much been gone through replacing leaking seals, bad bearings, ect,ect NOT to BAD !!!
Dont worry about it!!! You love your tractor and it will out preformany mordern tractor and out live them by years, and you paid a fraction of what a mordern tractor with comparable accesories would cost even at 1440!!

Stitch - If you're satisfied with the 100 and enjoy it then it doesn't matter if you paid twice that amount. The tractor will be around long after any reservation you may currently be experiencing is gone. It will bring you joy and attention from others, especially when you remind them it is from the early 60s. It will bring you satisfaction every time you see it flex its muscles be it mowing, hauling, plowing, etc. I'm sure you're planning to take care of it so its value will just increase through the years. You may even pamper it and bring it back to showroom status. I don't think you over paid; you just paid a premium for this day and time but keep in mind, you now have a premium tractor. I agree with other guys, Stitch. As long as you are happy with the 100, that's all that matters. You have some nice options, on your tractor. I'd love to find a hydraulic lift, for my 100. :beerchug:

Either you are gonna pay when you buy the tractor or pay when you build the tractor you want.. Again, I wouldn't have paid that much but you are not too far off what it would cost to build the same tractor from a plain jane unit. So for a first timer you didn't do too bad.

I paid $600 for a reconditioned 1200 a couple summers ago, it looked nice and runs well, but, no creeper, three point, or hydraulics. Since then I have never paid over $200 for a cub, but.......none run when I buy them either.
