122 mower deck pto belt

I shredded my pto belt (from engine to deck) on my cc 122.
I've got a 48" deck.

using this chart http://home.comcast.net/~dos0711/CCBELTCHART.htm
I thought I needed IH-473462-R4-3/8 X 81"

Well the belt is too long. Any idea on how I can figure out what size belt I need? I tried a 76" belt and it is too short, so I know I need something in-between. No one around here has a 3/8" belt any where near this long, nor have I been able to find one online except from cubcadet which you have to pay a premium for.

Any help would be appreciated.

Just went through the same mess with mine.

I *believe* I have the 48 inch deck as well, and yes a Cub 122.

So. My local Tractor Supply Co. had a 1/2 by 81 inch belt. I bit the bullet and bought it, in part because it was less than HALF the price of ordering one somewhere, not to mention having to wait.

Well, it worked. I can only attest to one acre of mowing, but it worked. Others on here won't like it when you do it perhaps, but I say whatever works, works.

I tried a 1/2 by 81" belt from the car store, just to see if it would get me by. It was also too long. Should have realized then, that a 3/8 x 81 was also going to be too long, but thought lengths might be different depending on width?

Well, a wider belt would have to be longer to accomodate for length, just in principle...so, I'm not sure what to make of that.

Deck belt

My local Cub Cadet dealer recommended that I use a 1/2" diameter rope in place of the belt to gauge the length of the mower deck belt length. I did so and found out the length I needed. Worked for me.
