So here is the custom trailer I speak of. We just put the toolbox on as well as the bike rack. Might put some more storage under the canoe.

Suggestions?!?!?!?!?

I got this trailer originally with a boat for $50. Sold the boat for $50! Free trailer. I put the new wheels on it with spare of coarse.

Threw in a pic of the '71 for fun.

Nice 71! What you got under the hood? Any options on her?

I love the 67-72's. I drive a 72, 4x4 as my work truck.

It's got a 350 with edelbrock intake and carb, Long tube headers going to an H-pipe with dumped flows. Pretty sure it has some 3.73s in the rear end but i've never checked. Definetly not stock gears though. Got more updates coming on the canoe trailer later today.

I dont know that I'd put my tool box out back, only because if you put some weight in it it could make a real challenge to keep it form fish-tailing at 55/60 mph. I would definately add some kind of storage under the canoe so that paddles, life jackets, tents and sleeping bags could be carried on the wagon leaving room in the tow vehicle for coolers, food stores, guns, ammo and so on. You could even rig a way to mount your fishing gear up under there, you got it setup so you don't have to tie the canoe up top so why not get most of the stuff out of the truck. A few years(ok like 30)ago we got ahold of some old military box lockers that were 3'*2'*2' they were lightweight sheet metal but would float on their back, my cousin and I used them as little fising boats, suprisingly stable for a square box..lol..but if you could find those, they would be perfect had key locks and all.

Just got back from the test run. Had the trolling motor and battery in the toolbox, as well as 2 chairs, air mattress, tent, and tarp. Added an action packer rubbermaid container behind the spare with about 60 lbs of stuff in it. Put the two bikes on the rack and headed straight to the highway. Got it up to around 80 mph and it pulls straight as an arrow. Still has around 60 lbs of tongue weight. Pulls awesome. Ready for labor day weekend.

Yeah I agree the tool box should go up front for weight issues.
