Need opinions ASAP on a Model 70

I found a nice partially restored model 70 that an acquaintance has for sale. It has been painted a few years back and still looks good. Options are: round fenders w/no reflectors, creeper gear, spring assist, nice mower deck, plow. It has the incorrect seat and grille but I can replace those. The tractor also has brand new Carlisles and tri-ribs. He's asking $850 firm. The 7 hp motor is fine and doesn't smoke at all either. I just want to know what you guys think, is he asking too much and I should keep looking?:bigthink:

Ps. I have a model 70 parts tractor so I would have donor parts if I needed anything. I just don't know what I should do, buy it or keep looking. I have a blade already but I am only looking for a Cub to use for mowing, my 102 will be used for everything else.

Well, I have more than that in my 70 with the same options but I also have headlights. If you want a loaded 70 without doing a lot of work and adding the expensive parts, you would be money ahead to get it.

Gotta picture?

Thanks Kelpie, I will post pictures later today. I could sell the plow and recoup some of the money I'm sure. The stuff his tractor needs is mostly cosmetic, would be a fun project to work on over the winter. I figured he is in the ball park but I wasn't sure. Hopefully some others chime in on this thread and leave their opinions. "Thanks"

Doesn't sound like a bad deal to me, Max. Especially with the attachments. Great to see you posting again! :beerchug:

Thanks ACecil, I have been busy this spring and summer with the warm weather as I am in the HVAC business. Never get any free time when the temperature is over 80 here in Michigan. After I buy this 70 I am sure you will see more of me again and I will be posting pictures. This one won't be half as much work as my 102 was. This is the closest I could come to finding a nice Original for mowing, at least it has everything I'm looking for except for a few more options that I will add later. Feels good to be back here amongst friends. :beerchug:
