Headlight hook up
I just found a set of headlights for my 129 and they came with both the hookup and ground wires. My question is after I buy a switch, where do I get the hotwire to run to the switch, and then to the headlights. Does the hookup wire attach to the switch?
Great website. Joe |
a good place to check is the service manuals on this site. They have the wiring diagram on there and it'll help immensely. I had to wire my taillights and it helped me.

You wire the hot wire to the + of the ammeter than to the switch than the other wire is on the wiring harness in the dash. one runs the front and one runs to the back for the taillight u want the front one. Than there is a wire under the geny that runs up to the were the headlights are. that's it! It toke me a half hour to wire it up. It is easy to get into the dash if the gastank is out of the way. |
Your 129 harness should already have the wiring hookups for the lights. There should be a lead for the rear tailights for you to hook up to and a lead for the headlights. There are a few wires that you will need to hook up back in the dash, one from the ignition to the switch and from the switch to the solenoid, but the leads should already be there. I strongly recommend that you install a fuse holder from the solenoid to the switch. I just installed a set on a 129, mine took about 1 hour to heat shrink all my fittings and completely rewire the front lights together with all new wiring.
