1450 firewall wall mounting?

My firewall is missing one of the horizonal tabs. I figure to rivet or bolt a replacement tab on. Do these tabs go on the gas tank strap bolts with a nut on top and bottom?

If I understand it correctly...that cheap little piece of strapping that secures the gas tank band to the frame (you call it a firewall)?

I bought standard L brackets and bolted them onto the "firewall" in a position that would accept the gas tank strapping (I can check the details if you want but I got them at the local hardware store...maybe 2 1/2 or 3 inchers?).

lower gas tank strap below the bracket, upper strap above it. Locknut below (1/2" box end I think) and whatever was on it above...flat blade on a cordless driver extension is handy although the more I think about it, use whatever you have to secure the gas tank strap to the bracket.

Corner brackets are what I purchased. Thanks for the help!!
