2182 Fuel pump
 

I just picked up a 2182 with a Kubota 3cyl. It looks like the PO put in the wrong fuel pump. It runs constant when you turn on the ignition. The tractor runs good with it but it doesn't seem that the pump should be running if the motor isn't. Does anyone have any experience with these?

I checked the oil for gas and it doesn't seem to push fuel past the carb.

That fuel pump needs to be replaced before you fill your oil pan full of fuel.:bash2:

No, that's how electric fuel pumps work...they are on when the ignition is on.

Yep, like Matt said that's how they work. How about some pics of the 2182. Just a FYI if you need any parts for the Kubota go to a Kubota dealer. They are about a 3rd less that Cub.

It looks like there's a fuel solenoid on the bottom of the Carb, And its tied into the power wire to the fuel pump. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for one of these? I'd like to see if it's wired correctly.

PM me with your e-mail address and I'll send it to you. The solenoid is the fuel shut down and that is how it should be.

Thank you for that diagram. It shows the fuel solenoid running to the seat switch. This one is just spliced into the pump power wire about 5" away from the pump. I have been running it and checking the oil over and over cause I just don't trust it. but so far there doesn't seem to be any fuel getting into the crankcase.

Another odd thing I found while putting a 60" mower deck on it was the pto was not lining up properly. The PO had it installed with the pulley facing out.
I looked up the parts diagram for it and it seems it should be installed with the pulley facing in.

Does this look correct now that I flipped it around?

The way it is in the pic is correct. I doubt that you are getting fuel in the oil, the elec pump makes noise whenever the key is on. The key powers the fuel pump, coil and carb solenoid to run. Worry when you don't hear it with the key on. The diesels do the same thing as do the Kubota BX tractors and probably other models. I hope you don't sell your 2182 at least not till you get some seat time on it to see how good they are. The only Cub I would even think about trading it for would be a 1782 diesel and I'd have to run one for a while before I jumped on that band wagon. I took it out and did a little mowing with it. The deck on it sure is quiet.
I probably wont get much time mowing with either of these Supers. When my oldest 2 get home I'll see how they like using it.

I have an old Jacobsen that I use to mow with now. It'll be tough to get used to not having hydro control with my foot. I just about ran into my garage door hitting the brakes and not hitting the hand lever :bigeyes:.

The 60" Haban is the best! Did I mention that women love a man with a Big Deck ? :biggrin2:
