Lucky Friday the 13th
6 Attachment(s)
We are getting ready to move to a smaller home, but it has a much bigger yard. At my current house, I push mow, but am going to need a rider at the new place. My stable of current cubs, none are set up for mowing duties...not that they couldn't be, but I just don't have the time to go through my pile of decks and get one going, so I decided to look around on Craig's List to see what I might stumble across. I found a nice looking 1211, and was making arrangements to travel the 200 miles to go look at it. In planning for the trip, I decided to see if anything else was available a tad closer to home (the road trip doesn't bother me, just finding the time to take it was the problem, heck I went 350 miles for a tiller...lol).
Well, I pulled up the St Joseph, MO (only 90 miles) CL and found an ad that had just posted for a 782, it looked good in the pics, and after calling the seller, made arrangements to see it the next morning. Well, it didn't take long to decide I had to have it, gave the owner his asking price of $750, and brought it home. It is a 2 owner, (I got the original operators manual, along with the buyers copy of the warranty registration card date 2-13-81), has been garage kept all it's life, has the KT17 series 2 motor, IH wheels weights, sleeve hitch, 2 extra sets of blades for the deck, and a crystal clear (all the others I have seen were yellowed badly) hour gauge showing just shy of 350 hours. Once home, I fired it up and mowed the grass, it runs smooth as silk, mows great (44C deck), and everything works as it should (well, to be honest one head lamp is burned out..). Enough gabbing, here are some pics of it! Attachment 26772 Attachment 26773 Attachment 26774 Attachment 26775 Attachment 26776 Attachment 26777 I am convinced that Friday the 13th was lucky for me! Ironically, I just googled the orginal purchase date (02-13-81) and that was also a Friday!!! |

Great score. Just a word of advise(If you didn't know already) Before you start it every time check the oil. The carbs/fuel pump tend to flood the crankcase with gas. My 1811 series II 18 mag floods once in a blue moon. I put a shut off between the tank and pump to eliminate this problem.
Good luck with it!!:GoodLuck: |
Very nice..
I like the oil filter location. good luck!! |
