Schwartz Front Axles

Looking to put a wide front on a 1950 H. Did some research and found this page:

Does anyone know if you can really buy Schwartz front axles new, today? :bigthink:

I work at a Case IH dealership and it looks like you can still get this front end. It appears to be about $1065 for the complete front end minus the hubs. That is with the mounts for a farmall H and the spindles will accept the farmall hubs.

That is of today? That's not as bad as I thought it would be! :beerchug:

I've been considering a wide front for my Farmall M and even beat up units have asking prices in the 600-700 range needing minor work to to be usable, so $1000 to have a brand new unit right at your local dealer and not have to drive for it is a lot more reasonable than I'd have ever imagined. Glad you brought this up :beer2:

Yes, I defiantly know what you mean! I never knew they were still in business!

A swartz is not as beefy built as IH built.
I looked @ them for my 400 while adding a loader with 7 foot bucket to it.
I settled on a factory 806/1206 WFE,non split steering arms and I never regretted doing it.
You will never over load that IH WFE!
Now if you just want a WFE for parade/play tractor, anything will work just fine.

We had a scwartz on our 504 Farmall back when we farmed and it also had a loader and did just fine.

I'd say that the schwartz axle is better than the factory wide front BUT an axle from a 06 is defiantly heavier. The problem with the 06 front is the fact that they aren't just laying around every corner at least not around here. There is also the fact that with used you never know what your getting.

Have a chance to buy a Speeco axle for a 340, for around $400 possibly. How hard would it be to make this work?

I didn't mean to imply a Swartz was inferior, just it wasn't as beefy.
if I spent $900 on a flawless WFE, why not get the origional thing. yea it was 20 or so yrs. ago and they were a little more popular but I saw one just today @ Yoder/Frey in Archibold Oh.
now as far as condition, your eyes tell you if it had been welded/abused, no rockett science to it.
