105 steering box mount twisting

Split the tractor, pulled out the old wiring, repaired the trunnion by filling with a mig welder and grinding back to shape, rebuilt the relief valves with new external o rings, freed up a sticking relief valve with PB blaster( hope that was a good idea),rebuilt the steering box, de-greased everything, rebuilt the front PTO,and replaced the drive shaft and its rag joint.
I noticed the steering gear box flexes the plate it mounts to when the steering wheel is turned with the wheels on the ground, and the plate has a small crack in it. My question is are there any reinforcement procedures or repairs beyond grind and re- weld ? Has anybody else found this problem ?
Sorry no pictures ,the camera went out of service the day I started this project.
Thanks
Steve
