Majic Paint: anyone try??
Just wondering if you guys have tried Majic paint from Tractor Supply. They have a gloss hardener and their own reducer. Comes with IH white but not yellow.
|
Not yet, I just bought out every last can of IH White and Yellow from my local TSC a couple of weeks ago so I am set for awhile. Hope the Majic stuff is of similar or better quality. My experience is that the Valspar stuff was really good. 2 years after restoring my Sears Suburban, the parts that I went rattle can still look great.

My buddy just did his dodge diesel dump in IH Red with the Majic paint. It turned out very nicely.

Thats what I wanted to hear. I think the school bus yellow will look fine. Thanks Guys

I was checking it out at TSC this evening.
|
As was I, all the paint shelves were empty about two weeks ago. Asked the guy there, he was told by corporate to box all the valspar stuff up and ship it back to the warehouse.

Ive used the ford blue on an off brand tractor i have and i must say its very nice paint! Of course i use rattle cans but it came out with a richer gloss than the valspar paint did in my opinion.

My experience with the valspar paint they used to have at TSC is that it looked good at first but after about a year it dulled out and you could never get it to shine again. I haven't tried this new paint but I'll probably just stick to the CaseIH paint.

Any of these tractor paints will fade if left outside, left in extreme light, or anything but kept in a garage all the time. Even with hardener it will dull and never be like the day you painted it. I used IH Blue on both my car and truck. Car paint job is 3 years old and still looks real glossy but set in a garage all 3 years. Truck was done one year ago and faded but sits outside. If you care about the shine long term, might try clear coat. I may give it a shot next time but like most of us I don't refurbish tractors to let them sit. They get worked and will inevitably get a few scratches and nicks along the way.
Yes I have used the Majic brand before. Very similar in my opinion but I've only done one small job. I'm not satisfied with the school bus yellow as a substitute though. Depends on what you want I guess. |
