Side panel cover up

When I got my 1250, it didn't have side panels. I found some used ones, put them on, and now you can't get to the gas tank shut off valve. What am I missing here? :bigthink:

Nice design isn't it :biggrin2:

You are not missing a thing, LOL. Don't feel bad, my 782 and now my 1711 are the same way, but the one improvement with the 82 series over the QL is you can install a manual fuel shut off inline where you can reach it.

I was looking for a fuel shut off on the 1450 that we just got. I thought it didn't have one until I pulled the side panel. Then I figured the PO installed one where you can't get at it. Now your telling me they were built that way.:bash::bash::bash:

Sure you can get to it from the carb side.
lift hood you can use a pair of pliers or screwdriver. you can push the valve knob closed with the handle of the pliers and pull on it with the handle from the back side to open it.
with some practice you can get good at it.

That only works if it has the push/pull style. Some of them have a quarter-turn shutoff.
