Gas smell in garage

Ever since I got my 1650 a couple months ago I have parked it in my garage. Dice then I have also noticed a gas smell mixed with exhaust. I already had a push mower, trimmer, pressure washer, chainsaw, gas and.... In the garage before the cub but never noticed a gas smell. I do not notice any leaks and can only guess its coming from the vented gas gauge/cap. It's a brand new cap on it. Is there anything to look for or to do to stop the smell. I don't have a shed yet to park it in.

Every time I have smelled gas in my garage there was a leak some where. I doubt it is from the gas cap.

Pull the side panel and run your finger around under the bottom of the carb. If it is dry check the gas tank, they are getting old and I have had a couple that developed small leaks.

If you smell it,it's time to find the problem before something bad happens.

Gas smell

do you turn the gas off be for you ,turn the key off ,try that ,and check the fuel bowl ,and see if there is fuel coming out ,

If you smell gas you have a gas leak.
Turn your gas off. It isn't the easiest to find but on quiet line its along the top of the side cover at the bottom of the gas tank. Push the button in with the help of a screw driver or handle of a pair of pliers.
if that don't help, check the gas tank for leak.
I always turn the gas off on my equipment when I can.

Make sure that gas didn't get into the oil. It's less likely on a single-cylinder K-series than on the KTs and Magnums, but still possible. I suspect the carb needs rebuilding or the float is sunk/stuck, dirt in the needle and seat, etc. Time to pull the carb off and see what's going on.

Good advice from our fellow forum members.see any leaks around the carb bowl?

Yeah mine leaks around the carb bowl where it connects to the carb- I need another gasket but I can't find one- I turn my gas off when I'm not running it but it still makes the garage smell. It's an attached garage so it's not terrible, unless I forget to shut the windows on the car.

I would say it's time to get a new bowl assembly.
But if it is like my shut off it don't have a bowl.
