1450 hydro linkage question
 

I tightened the linkage up so well on the hydro that I knocked neutral out shifting to fast last weekend. I adjusted her back to neutral, but found I have slop in the linkage, (or shifter), behind the dash. The rod that goes from the dash to the hydro is tight. You can see the slop in the pics. Note the brake pedal was applied and locked before I took the pics. Is this the norm for a 37 year old tractor, or can the slop be removed?
