Converting Tranny From Farmall A or B
Just curious, has anyone ever tried to convert a Farmall A or Farmall B Tranny to fit on a Cub Cadet? The transmission housings look so close between a Cub Cadet, Farmall Cub, Farmall A, and Farmall B that it might be possible to adapt it to a Cub Cadet. I am not a transmission expect by any means so I know there may be many variables to make it impossible. It would gain you a 540 PTO and an extra forward gear.
Just curious, I tried to search for previous threads but found none. |
IH adapted the Cub Transmission & differential housing for the Original
Cub Cadet. Later Cub cadets used a slightly modified version but basically the same. A or B trannys are likely too large... Myron B CCSupplyRoom |
Too big. We have a B at home...trans is wider, longer, taller, and of course, you've got to replace the final drives with something, and come up with a reduction housing. Too much work to get another gear that isn't needed, in my opinion.

Thanks, I thought that might be the answer, or there would have been details somewhere on this forum. Members would have signatures of that included the transmission being converted.
