not cub, but...
 

just picked up a 64' simplicity Broadmoor for my boy. It's in fantastic shape, even has all the hub caps!
Question is, if anyone knows; next to the gear shift, is a slot with a sticker that says "HI/LO". Don't see a lever, or even an extra pulley...so why have the sticker??? unless something was there.. Anybody know?

Creeper gear was an option, just like on Cubs. It is possible it was removed at one point. Or the decals were installed factory in case they ever got a creeper. Or a restorer installed every decal in his new decal kit.

The old Simplicities are a great little tractor in their own right. Not quite a Cub Cadet but still worthy.

been there, can't find a thing. Today, we gunked it down, pwr washed it..as well as all the other machines....my son had the nozzle in the muffler of my scag for awhile while when I wasn't looking!!! I blew a gasket, but it started right up....just alot of steam :) Anyways, this simplicity is in great shape...runs like a top (after new plug,filter, clean the gas tank,clen the carb,new batt, new ignition(no keys) ).

Nice score. I had one a few years back, only mine was a Wards Squire 6. Same thing, Simplicity built them for Wards and painted them that gold color that Wards used. As for the Hi/Lo hole, from my understanding that fender pan was the same for all tractors made in that lineup. Mine had one thing that was unique, it had a hole in the side of the hood for the pull start cord to come through.

They are neat how the frame flexes in the middle. Takes a bit to get used to at first. Those seat pans are nice too.

mine has the oval hole for the pull cord also. :)
I've had it running, but have to keep readjusting the carb...fuel just keeps leaking down into the throttle bore @#$%$!!! I can't figure it out.....needle and seat good, reset the float several times....still just drips.
it's pissing me off!!!

Simplicities are great little machines. I had a Simlicity 7016 some years ago, and never had any trouble with it. The Briggs in it wasn't my favorite, but it cut very well, and had full length rollers on the rear of the deck...striped the lawn very nice!
