I have a brand new quiet line in a 1450.. new iso mounts, new motor, new muffler.. and before the paint has burned off anything, the muffler box has already cracked and lost its bottom.

I don't know if it is possible to keep the box in its stock form for any length of time. Does anyone know if IH adressed this issue in any recalls or service bulletins?

I guess one could build a new box, out of heavier material.. but I bet it would crack too, or induce cracks in the aluminum piece that bolts on the motor. SOmeday I will be putting this motor in a 1250 with a new fabricated box..we will see if it works. I am seriously considering the solid mounts or hard plastic ones. I don't know if that will help or hurt the box.

one my one 1650 I installed a stainless steel one that I bought in a pile of ql parts from a guy at the little g show a few years back ...That box is in great shape and is rock solid and does not rattle ...so with that said I recently purchaced another 1650 of course the box is junk , Iam now scouting around for either somebody who makes these or I will buy the material and fab my own. I have pics if your interested

Mine had stainless bolts in it....but entirely stainless sounds intriguing.

Did it use the factory aluminum piece on the Kohler??

Pics, pleeze!

my stainless muffler box uses the existing cast alum housing all the holes are correct , just made to last.

Are those resistance spot welds in the last shot I see or is it all screwed together...or are they mig plug welds? Looks like it should last!

The muffler box is all bolted together with small stove bolts ...I think it will outlast me and the motor thats in the 16 ... the real nice thing about the stainless box is that it does not rattle or vibrate so you can hear the real power of the brute force k 341 working.
